Appraisals

Here at Mitchell’s, we have a licensed gemologists on staff who can perform appraisals for your jewelry. Determining the current market value of your jewelry is the only way you can be sure your insurance is sufficient to cover them against loss, theft or damage.

Our appraisals include color and clarity of stones where applicable, dimensions, size, weight, settings, condition of the item and retail replacement value. You can also opt to have a photograph of your piece included in the appraisal. The most common reason to get a jewelry appraisal is for insurance coverage.

A document describing your jewelry and its value assure you of a comparable replacement in case of loss or theft. Appraisals are also helpful when you choose to sell your jewelry.

In addition, with the rising popularity of Internet purchases, appraisals can ensure that you received a fair price on the item you purchased and that you essentially got what you paid for. We at Mitchell’s recommend appraising items valued at or above $700, or on items that have sentimental value.

Whether you need the appraisal for insurance purposes, to sell a piece of jewelry, or just need to update you existing appraisal, let Mitchell’s assist you.
